There are many international car renting companies in Slovenia:

Plenty of international car renting companies allow you to choose the most convenient option for renting a car.

National and secondary roads are free of charge, while elevated roads are toll roads, which means that if you want to use them, you have to buy a vignette. The Slovenian vignette costs €16 for a week. You can buy it  online or at gas stations.

Public transportation in Slovenia

Slovenia has a well-developed bus network that facilitates travel between cities and rural areas. Buses following local routes can stop in almost every town along the way, allowing for flexible travel planning. Tickets can be purchased either at the major bus stations or directly from the bus driver.

Buses run from Ljubljana to almost all major Slovenian destinations. In the summer months, there are frequent connections to cities on the Adriatic coast.
